This Hercules was originally built
as a USAF HC-130H. It then went to
the USCG as #1721 before being
modified to the test bed
configuration.

#497 was the last remaining DC-130A
in service with the Navy, and was
due to be replaced with a modified
KC-130F. The primary job of this
modified C-130, is to launch various
types of target drones that are shot
down by missiles during tests and
training. The aircraft is seen with
four Firebee drones in this photo.

photo was taken on its first flight
after being modified, which was the
first time a Hornet had been flown
with the ALQ-218 wingtip pods.

parts added to the aircraft.
